Drugs, Knives and Midwives- color study

I came up with this image for an editorial illustration for Utne magazine on unnecessary c-sections and all the risks that come along with it. My idea was to have a pop top on top of a woman's belly to simulate a can opener which is pretty much what would be ideal for doctors to do, open take out and close. This is just the color study.

I changed the scale of the fairies as well as the values. I think they look much better now!

Photoshop practice

So I was bored today and decided to work on a portrait of my sister.

Done in photoshop and took approx 2.5 hours. I worked on a layer on top of the photograph, changed the design of it, made it more graphic and flat looking then got rid of the photo layer completely so all the coloring is my own design. This was just meant to be done as a photoshop color practice.

Giraffe progress..

At this point its about 80% done..just have to go into the details but the structure and heads+faces are there. Enjoy!
